Alexander Johan (Alex) de Voogt,
a Dutch psychologist, curator in African Ethnology at American Museum of Natural History [1], until 2009 assistant professor at Leiden and Maastricht University. De Voogt researched and published on diverse topics as seventh century Islam, Nubian architecture, and the history of writing systems [2], and is renowned Mancala game researcher holding a Ph.D. on Bao mastership from Leiden University [3]. He is member of the International Society for Board Game Studies [4] and is editor of its journal [5].
