David Forsyth, (1854–1909)
a Scottish chess editor of the Glasgow Weekly Herald [1] who emigrated to New Zealand. Forsyth created a method for recording chess positions, which was base of Steven Edwards' specification of the Forsyth-Edwards Notation abbreviated as FEN - part of PGN and EPD [2]. Forsyth was mentioned compiling a Go column in the Otago Witness, from February 1902 until March 1903 [3].
