Oleg Konstantinovič Tichomirov, (Олег Константинович Тихомиров, 1933 - 2001)
was a Russian psychologist, head of general psychology and Professor Emeritus at Faculty of Psychology, Moscow State University. He was specialized in the theories of psychology, cognitive psychology, artificial intelligence and computer science, and was further interested in the psychology of thought and speech, psychology of creativity, problem of goal formation, human-computer interaction, and methodology and history of psychology.

Chess

In 1966, along with E. D. Poznyanskaya, Tichomirov conducted cognitive experiments with chess masters, notably measuring their eye movements during the first five seconds after viewing a chess position [2]. One position was used by Herbert Simon and Michael Barenfeld for their research and publications concerning Perceiver, the experimental chess program which simulated human eye movements [3] [4].
