The 4th Aegon Man-Machine tournament took place in Spring 1989, at Aegon Headquarters in The Hague, The Netherlands. This year, only five rounds were played over a period of three weeks. The humans won by 57½ to 23[1] .
^ The seeming inconsistency in the final score is the result of a special decision made by the tournament direction. The game HiTech - Kieboom could not take place due to communication equipment malfunction at the tournament site, regarded as win for Kieboom. HiTech played an extra game vs Loewenthal, which ended in a draw. Loewenthal's score was not affected, and the result of HiTech - Kieboom is therefor ½-1, Dap Hartmann (1989).
