Chess Academy,
was a commercial multiple purpose chess GUI developed by Witali Braslawski, published by Chess Academy Software and Book Publishing House, located in Düsseldorf, Germany, as of 2013 out of production [1]. Chess Academy ran under Windows, focusing on interactive chess tutorials, chess databases, and chess playing programs. Developed by Braslawski since 1991, Chess Academy has its own database format and comes with a huge database featuring opening trees and middle game positions, supporting PGN, EPD, CBF, HTML, RTF, and is able to query Nalimov endgame tablebases.

Beside its native engines (Chess Academy Engine, LGoliath), CA is compatible with UCI and the Chess Engine Communication Protocol aka Winboard, and is available in eight languages, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, and Russian. The Chess Academy GUI features a multiple document like interface with game list-, tutorial- and game windows, either with 2D- or 3D Graphics Board and various piece sets.
