He holds a diplom degree in CS from University of Freiburg in 1992 on the topic of learning of classification trees, applied to the game of Malawi[2], supervised by Thomas Ottmann and Alois Heinz[3]. Classification trees were further elaborated in their 1993 paper Bootstrap learning of α-β-evaluation functions[4].
