The 17th Dutch Open Computer Chess Championship took place in Alphen aan den Rijn. It was an eleven round swiss tournament at two consecutive week ends, November 22-23 and 29-30, 1997.
^ After the 6th round Remy de Ruysscher reported that he accidentally played the Zarkov program instead of his own Shannon program. In order to minimize the disturbance to the tournament, the arbiter Rienk Doetjes decided that the same version of Zarkov should continue to play on behalf of the organization, and not for competition. 1997 Dutch Open Computer-Chess Championship old CSVN site
