Dr. David Kirkby,
a British medical physicist, bio-engineer, Ph.D. from University College London in 1999, radio-amateur, programmer and author of various open source projects registered at SourceForge ^[1]. In December 2006, he started the ChessDB project based on Shane Hudson's final version 3.6.1 of Shane's Chess Information Database (SCID) ^{[2] [3]}.
