Derek Edward Oldbury, (1924 - July 1994)
was a British draughts champion, competing in seven World Championship matches [1], and rival of Marion Tinsley. He was also a Checkers programmer, competing the 1st Computer Olympiad, 1989 with his Checker Hustler program, and the 2nd Computer Olympiad, 1990 with Checkermate, written along with Adrian Millett. Oldbury was born paraplegic [2].
