Deuterium is a Chess Engine Communication Protocol compatible closed source chess engine by Ferdinand Mosca, initially based on TSCP or Tom's Simple Chess Program by Tom Kerrigan. To represent the board, Deuterium uses an 8x8 Board and piece-lists. It applies fail-soft NegaScout with iterative deepening, aspiration windows, null move and futility pruning, move history/statistics pruning, as well as late move reduction [1]. Deuterium is an active tournament player, and participated at most ACCA World Computer Rapid Chess Championships, first in 2007, as well as most recent CCT Tournaments since CCT11. Over the board, Deuterium became third at the CCC 2009 4th Chess Computer Cup in Carugate, Italy, where it also played the 1st Italian Open Chess Software Cup in 2010.
