Donald William (Don) Laabs,
an American electrical engineer and computer scientist graduated from University of California, Berkeley. In the 80s, he worked for Hewlett-Packard, and since 1988 he is active in the video game industry, first as developer for Mindscape and Software Toolworks, since 2000 as CTO for Fluent Entertainment, Inc. [1], since 2005 as senior producer in The Sims division of Electronic Arts [2] [3], and since 2012 as senior product director at Linden Lab [4].

Computer Chess

While affiliated with Mindscape and Fluent Entertainment, Don Laabs was involved in the development and production of several mass market chess programs, such as various Chessmaster versions, Majestic Chess and Disney's Aladdin Chess Adventures [6].
