As open source programmer Folkert is author of the experimental chess programs Pos[2] and DeepBrutePos[3] , both written in Java. A incarnation of DeepBrutePos, running on a system with an UDOO computer and seven Raspberry Pi calculating nodes is dubbed PuppetMaster[4] . Former experimental chess programs were CPP1[5] , Bullucks[6] and QueenBee. His latest engine first released in August 2015 is the UCI compliant Embla[7], in 2016 incorporated inside a self made chess computer board based on a Raspberry Pi 3[8].
