Günther Schrüfer,
a German computer scientist, chessplayer [1][2] and computer chess programmer. He made his MSc on modeling Search Trees in Chess 1983 [3] and his Ph.D. on Costs, Quality and Algorithms of Minimax Search in 1988 [4] at the Technical University of Braunschweig. In his 1988 paper Root Evaluation Errors: How they Arise and Propagate[5], Ingo Althöfer used Schrüfer's model limited to regular binary two-valued trees of depth n, to demonstrate how root errors arise.
Along with Hans-Joachim Kraas, Günther Schrüfer is co-author of the chess programs Bobby, Bobby II and Doctor?[7][8][9] . He is co-author of Das große Computerschachbuch (German), describing chess programming topics, and the didactic chess program Demoschach written in Basic.
