Gert Vriend,
a Dutch computer scientist and senior professor Bioinformatics of Macromolecular Structures and director of the CMBI bioinformatics institute at the Nijmegen Centre for Molecular Life Sciences [1] , Radboud University Nijmegen. He got his Ph.D. in biophysics at Wageningen University in 1983, and is primary author of the molecular modeling and drug design program WHAT IF [2] . As former computer chess programmer in the early 80s, Gert Vriend is author of the chess program GVNA, which played the first three Dutch Open Computer Chess Championships, the DOCCC 1981 as GVNAA [3] , the DOCCC 1982 as GVNAC, and the DOCCC 1983 as GVNAF. Gert Vriend served as additional referee for the Advances in Computer Games 12 conference [4] .
