Written by Jeff Mallett, a newcomer to the computer-chess scene, it has been in full-time development for a year. It has some unusual features which include: not using iterative deepening, never evaluate statically - obtaining all evaluation scores by incremental changes as moves are made, only looking at newly available moves in the final stages of the quiescence search, and estimating an "attack factor" distinct from the regular evaluation.

Innovation was incorporated in commercial chess teaching products such as Maurice Ashley Teaches Chess [2], and Dr. Schiller's Chess Game & How to Play Chess [3].
