James Swafford,
an American computer scientist and software developer, with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in CS from East Carolina University, Greenville, North Carolina. As computer chess programmer, James is author the chess engines Tristram, Galahad, and Prophet. He started writing C to write a better chess program (first attempts were in Pascal), not to "learn C" [1]. More recently James works on a project to explore Java and Amazon technologies by building a highly scalable chess engine dubbed chess4j [2] [3].
