There are two semantics inside an Alpha-Beta like search, related to Lower Bounds:

• Alpha is an Lower Bound of a score for this node.
• A Lower Bound is returned from an Alpha-Beta like search, if it fails high. The node searched was a confirmed Cut-Node.
