Mephisto Mondial,
a dedicated chess computer released in 1985 by Hegener & Glaser, running a program for a 6502 processor by Frans Morsch - his commercial debut. Mondial was based on Nona, which won the amateur tournament at the WMCCC 1985 in Amsterdam, and short later the DOCCC 1985. Nona was ported [1] to Ed Schröder's faster interface code for the Mephisto hardware [2], and Ed acknowledged Frans did a better job than he did at that times [3] [4]. According to Jan Louwman, Mondial had a selective layer of three plies performing a kind of Shannon Type B Strategy [5].
