a German former computer chess programmer, along with Christopher Lutz co-author of the chess program Paul, which played the WMCCC 1989 in Portorož. Both authors received the Mephisto "Young Programmers" Scholarship of $2,500 for programmers under 19 years of age who have written the best chess program. Further, Hegener & Glaser kindly sponsored their travel costs to Portorož [1].
