The Penrod Memorial Microchess Tournament, held early 1979, in remembrance to Douglas Penrod, editor of the Computer Chess Newsletter, who implemented the First Microcomputer Chess Tournament at the Second West Coast Computer Faire, San Jose, California ^{[1] [2]}, and who died in November 1978.
