a German mathematician, computer scientist, games researcher, and professor at Technical University of Munich[1] . In his 1970 Ph.D. Thesis Untersuchungen über kombinatorische Spiele, Ströhlein investigated various three and four piece chess endgames, and did the first retrograde analysis implementation to construct endgame databases[2].
