Toledo, a family of minimalistic open source chess programs by Óscar Toledo Gutiérrez. Toledo Chess 1 with text-mode user interface is written in C [1], and won the 18th International Obfuscated C Code Contest (IOCCC) 2005 in the Game category [2]. Toledo Chess 2 even has an own X-Window and Windows graphical user interface and won the 19th IOCCC [3]. Further, Toledo Nanochess in C as well, occupies only 1274 non-blank characters, while Toledo Picochess fits in 1K of source, but without en passant, castling or minor promotion. Toledo Javascript is the Nanochess JavaScript version, 2258 bytes , and Toledo Java the Java port. In January 2015, Óscar Toledo G. released Toledo Atomchess, a chess program of only 481 bytes of x86 machine code [4].
