a Dutch computer and games scientist and CEO of Quintiq. He defended his M.Sc. thesis A Knowledge-Based Approach of Connect Four [1] in 1988 at Vrije Universteit, Amsterdam, solving the game of Connect Four, and his Ph.D. thesis Searching for Solutions in Games and Artificial Intelligence at Maastricht University in 1994, elaborating on Proof-number search and dependency-based search [2]. Victor Allis authored and co-authored more than 30 publications on search algorithms, Graph History Interaction (GHI) and games. From 1993 to 1995 he worked as assistant professor at the Vrije Universiteit. He is author and co-author of several programs competing at ICGA tournaments, winning six gold medals at Computer Olympiads [3].
