a free chess GUI and frontend to a MySQL chess database backend, both developed by Peter Schäfer. Written in Java, José can run on multiple platforms and operating systems like Windows, Linux and Mac OS with appropriate JRE 1.4 or higher, and further supports the Chess Engine Communication Protocol and UCI to communicate with chess engines for game play and analysis. Jose is packaged with the Toga and Spike.
