a chess program for the [[Acorn Atom]] released in 1981 by [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acornsoft|Acornsoft]] on [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_Cassette|cassette]]. Atom Chess was an improved version of [[Chessnut]] by [[Geoffrey Bulmer]] which competed at the [[European MCC 1981|2nd European Microcomputer Chess Championship]] <ref>Editor (**1981**). //Chess Final '81//. Atom Chess recognizes all legal [[Moves|chess moves]], including [[Castling|castling]], [[En passant|en passant]], and [[Promotions|promotes]] to queen only.
