The Tournament was the idea of the "Berlin Computer Chess Friends", [[Ingo Bauer]], [[Peter Berger]], [[Thorsten Czub]], [[Stefan Knappe]], [[Heiner Marxen]] and [[Volker Pittlik]], and was devoted to [[Mathematician#EmanuelLasker|Emanuel Lasker]], supported by the //Emanuel Lasker Society// <ref>[[http://www.lasker-gesellschaft.de/society/flyer.html|Emanuel Lasker Society]]</ref>. The hardware was kindly provided by [[AMD]] Germany. As a kind of opening ceremony, professor [[Raúl Rojas]] from the Free University and host of the tournament, hold an exclusive lecture for all participants about [[Konrad Zuse|Konrad Zuse's]] [[Konrad Zuse#Plankalkuel|Plankalkül]], including some chess routines written in it.
