a strong [[WinBoard]] and [[UCI]] compliant chess engine written by [[Fabio Cavicchio]] in [[Pascal]] with [[x86]] [[Assembly#InlineAssembly|inline assembly]], compiled with [[Delphi]], first released in August 2001 <ref>[[http://wbec-ridderkerk.nl/html/details1/Delfi.html|Delfi]] from [[WBEC|WBEC Ridderkerk]]</ref>. 

Delfi is distributed commercially within a software suite as Delfi Trainer, along with an own "2.5D" [[GUI|chess GUI]], a ergonomic [[2D Graphics Board|2D graphics board]] in [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bird%27s-eye_view|Bird's-eye view]] and pieces with 3D-effect, and a position trainer <ref>[[http://www.msbsoftware.it/delfi/|Delfi Winboard - UCI Engine]]</ref> . The pure Winboard/UCI engine with some restrictions is further available for free. =Description=
Delfi uses the [[Vector Attacks|vector attacks]] approach of a board representation with a 16x16 board, combining the property of the [[10x12 Board|10x12 board]] with its surrounding [[Ranks|ranks]] and [[Files|files]] with the  property that a square difference uniquely maps a [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euclidean_vector|vector]] in the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chebyshev_distance|Chebyshev]] [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vector_space|vector space]] of a [[Chessboard|chessboard]]. Delfi applies [[Principal Variation Search|PVS]] [[Alpha-Beta|alpha-beta]] with [[Null Move Pruning|null move-]], [[Futility Pruning|futility-]] and [[Late Move Reductions|history pruning]]. Dual core processors are supported using a [[Parallel Search|parallel search]] with a [[Shared Hash Table|shared hash table]].

=Tournament Play= 
Delfi won all the six [[Italian Computer Chess Championship#CIPS|Campionato Italiano per Programmi Scacchistici (CIPS)]] championships it played, from [[CIPS 2002|2002]] until [[CIPS 2007|2007]], and further won the [[CCC 2005|Chess Computer Cup 2005]], and [[CCC 2008|2008]]. At the [[WCCC 2006]] in [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turin|Turin]], Delfi performed with respectable 5½/11.
