a free [[Open Source Engines|open source engine]] under the [[Free Software Foundation#GPL|GNU General Public License]], written in [[Cpp|C++]]. DiscoCheck is [[UCI]] compatible and can be compiled for [[Linux]], [[Android]] <ref>[[http://www.aartbik.com/MISC/eng.html|UCI and XBoard Engines for Android]] maintained by [[Aart Bik]]</ref> , [[Windows]], and [[Mac OS|Mac OS X]]. It performs [[Principal Variation Search|PVS]] [[Alpha-Beta|alpha-beta]] with [[Transposition Table|transposition table]], [[Null Move Pruning|null move pruning]], [[Late Move Reductions|LMR]] and various enhancements inside an [[Iterative Deepening|iterative deepening]] framework with [[Aspiration Windows|aspiration windows]]. DiscoCheck determines [[Sliding Piece Attacks|sliding piece attacks]] with [[Magic Bitboards|magic bitboards]], first using [[Pradu Kannan|Pradu Kannan's]] implementation, later the GPL conform version by [[Borko Bošković]] as used in [[MinkoChess]] (then called Umko) <ref>[[http://wbec-ridderkerk.nl/html/details1/DoubleCheck.html|Double/DiscoCheck]] from [[WBEC|WBEC Ridderkerk]]</ref> . Early versions used the author's own implementation of [[Rotated Bitboards|rotated bitboards]], adapted from his earlier engine BibiChess 0.5.
