It participated at the [[WCCC 1974|First World Computer Chess Championship]] 1974 in [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholm|Stockholm]], running on a [[CDC Cyber|CDC Cyber 74]]. It lost versus the strong [[CHAOS]] and [[Ribbit]] in round 1 and 2 respectively, and had a lucky draw from [[Tell]]. 

Barricelli, at that time affiliated with the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Oslo|Oslo University]] <ref>[[http://www.game-ai-forum.org/icga-tournaments/program.php?id=50|Freedom's ICGA Tournaments]]</ref>, had already experience in chess programming for his [[Nils Barricelli#Symbioorganisms|Symbioorganisms]] experiments at [[University of Manchester]] in 1962, where [[Alex Bell]] worked for him and wrote his first [[Move Generation#Legal|legal-move generator]]. Freedom's [[Evaluation|evaluation]] was primary based on the ratio of own and opponents [[Mobility|mobility]] aka number of [[Legal Move|legal moves]]. ||
