Starting the project in 1999, the first beta appeared in January 2000 <ref>[[http://www.oocities.org/gmasciulli/indexOld.html#G6|Golem's Page - G6]]</ref>, when Gianluigi just implemented the [[Quiescence Search|quiescence search]] in an "[[Search Explosion|exploding way]]" <ref>[[http://www.stmintz.com/ccc/index.php?id=93566|Golem (was Re: what's the tool you used for the diagram ? THANKS!)]] by [[Gianluigi Masciulli]], [[CCC]], January 31, 2000</ref>. With Gianluigi as founding member of the [[G 6]], the Italian Chess Programmer Group, Golem played all the early G6 tournaments, four [[Italian Computer Chess Championship|Italian Computer Chess Championships]] (CIPS) from [[CIPS 2001|2001]] until [[CIPS 2007|2007]], and the [[CCC 2008]] and [[CCC 2008]] [[Italian Computer Chess Championship#CCC|Chess Computer Cups]]. ||
