[[Novag|Novag's]] 1982 release of a  [[Dedicated Chess Computers|dedicated chess computer]] with a [[Electro-Mechanical|mechatronical]] [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actuator|actuator]], a [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robotic_arm|Robotic arm]] making its own moves, and a magnetic [[Sensory Board|sensory board]] to recognize moves made by the player.
