a [[Dedicated Chess Computers|dedicated chess computer]] with an [[ARM6]] 32Bit [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reduced_instruction_set_computing|RISC Processor]] at 40 MHz, produced and market by [[TASC]] as successor of the [[TASC R30]] along with their Chess System and the wooden [[TASC SmartBoard|SmartBoard]] with [[Piece Recognition|electronic piece recognition]], released in 1994. Running the same [[The King]] program(s), the R40 had a 10 MHz faster clock frequency than the R30 and 1024 KiB of [[Memory#RAM|RAM]] for almost doubled [[Transposition Table|transposition table]] size. Officially only 20 items were manufactured, supposedly even only 6 or 7, considered the strongest dedicated unit of the 90s <ref>[[https://www.schach-computer.info/wiki/index.php?title=Tasc_R40|Tasc R40]] from [[http://www.schach-computer.info/wiki/index.php/Hauptseite_En|Schachcomputer.info Wiki]] (German)</ref>.
